Policy Debates are periodic debates about public issues related to the Peace Institute’s interest as a researchfoundation. The debates are carried out using a previously assigned topic and/or paper, to be discussed after its presentation, in accordance with agreed-upon rules and parameters of exchange.
The Policy Debate sessions are held once a week. Invitees for participation are selected based on a demonstrated capacity for free critical thought, for their connectedness to the issue being discussed, and for a willingness to engage in the development of the topic. After the debate, the Peace Institute makes available a summary of the debate, in both printed and electronic format. In addition, a special chapter of the Peace Institute’s magazine provides a summary of the Policy Debate in Arabic and English
